Meet the experienced and friendly doctors and staff who make Vision Source of Newport a proud provider of vision care products and services in Newport.

Dr. Kurt Steele

Dr. Kurt Steele joined Vision Source of Newport in 1995 and has lived in Newport since 1997. He has received both the Young Optometrist of the Year and Optometrist of the Year award for the state of Tennessee and has served as president of the Tennessee Association of Optometric Physicians, the East Tennessee Optometric Society, and the Smoky Mountain Optometric Society. He also served on the board of the Southeastern Council of Optometrists. Dr. Steele was recently selected by his peers to be one of America’s Top 200 Eye Doctors. Dr. Steele travels across the United States educating other optometric physicians. Dr. Steele is a big fan of all Tennessee sports teams and is proud to support both Cocke County and Cosby athletics. When not in the office, Dr. Steele enjoys spending time with his wife (Sacha), playing golf, fishing and traveling.


Dr. Emily Eisenhower

Dr. Emily Eisenhower joined Vision Source of Newport in May 2017. Dr. Eisenhower is a member of the American Optometric Association, the Tennessee Association of Optometric Physicians, and the Smoky Mountain Optometric Society. She is the Past-President of the Tennessee Association of Optometric Physicians. She was recently selected by her peers to be one of America’s Top 200 Eye Doctors. She was awarded the Young Optometrist of the year in Tennessee in 2024. She serves on the national optometric level as a member of the American Optometric Association Political Action Committee and the Strategic Communications Committee. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, cheering on the ETSU Bucs and Tennessee Vols, and spending time with her family, friends, and her husband Nick. She was recently named the 2025 Young Optometrist of the South out of 13 SECO states.


Dr. Jacob Norris

A Cocke County native, Dr. Norris graduated from Southern College of Optometry in 2022. He practices full-scope care in our Newport office. During his 4th year externships he trained at Vision Source of Newport, The Eye Center in Memphis, and Southeastern Eye Specialists in Knoxville. In his free time, you can usually find him golfing.
